My hubby was unwell 2 weeks ago and went to the doctor who diagnosed superficial phlebitis. It got worse over the weekend so we went to A & E and they diagnosed cellulitis and did several tests and kept in him overnight. The hospital are doing a new clinic where you go every day to have iv antibiotics. He was only to go for 5 days and then go on tablets. He has now been going for 2 weeks for the iv and is now on 600mg antibiotics 3 times a day plus the iv and his leg still is not much better. The infection has gone down in his blood but the redness and blisters are still on his leg. He has thought he has been going to be readmitted 3 times now. He will be seeing the consultant again tomorrow and he is getting himself ready to be told he is going to be readmitted. We do not know where the infection has come from but there is a black mark on one of the blisters like dead tissue and one of the nurses thinks that may be the point of entry if it has been a bite. I just wish the treatment would clear it all up for him once and for all.
