MemberBenji’s skin problem is back again this summer and it’s as worse than it’s ever been. My mam is seriously considering taking him to the vet to get him on steroids :boooo:
Last year it was taken care of by giving him an antihistamine each day but it just doesn’t seem to be working? I’m thinking of making a tea tree cream up to use on him but any other idea’s? Here’s some pic’s i’ve taken of the worst bits where he’s just ripped the hair out because it’s so itchy 🙁

Memberouch…that looks real sore….not good at all….is there any infection in that lot laura?
i wouldnt use t tree….it too astringent for that….
does anything change in your house this time of year….any chemicals used in the garden…fly sprays….anything different or in greater amounts….any ants? does it start with midge bites etc….go out the box a bit….something is kicking this off and i think it topical
i think that may need a skin scrape and it so bad it may well need a short course of steriods to get it clear so you can start again with some immune boosters and topical stuff like aloe….yiou could try bathing him in quistel shampo and then treat with some 100% aloe…give the anti his a break off for a few days too..

Memberouchy ouchy -that on his front leg – looks to me like some sort of bites, the red raised lumps – is how honeys go when the ants get her- just not to THAT extreme…..

Memberif i remember right val i think he does have quite a black skin tone in places…i also thought he was low on natural oil distribution

Memberyeah the black skin is natural :ok:
Nothing changed in the house at all. It happens every year just that this year is the worst he’s gotten as far as i can remember… Saying that my hayfever has been the worst this year too – maybe it’s just because of all the high pressure and pollen in the air?
The inner right leg is the worst of the bunch but all over his body he has little patches of hair missing where he’s either pulled it out or scratched it so much…. You can see it getting worst because it starts off pinkish then as he scratches it it startes to get more inflamed and raw, eventually it gets to the point where there is no skin left and little scabs every where from him scratching like the third picture.
Every night i have been putting sudocrem on it and it seems to help him settle and relieve the itching.
And no Bev there doesn’t seem to be any infection in it. Maybe one or two scabs a little red but i think that’s just from him scratching at them.
I have some hibiscrub – could i use that to bathe him with?

Membersee what val says re the hib….it sounds like he getting sensitized with age….instead of hib i would get some pure aloe on or some witchazel with calomine cream…..looks just like the prob gracie was having
