MemberLassie? And to those that got cat and dogs too ofcourse….
Son won’t shut up about a cat. The boy only turns 7 years old this october but has been harrasing me for a cat for 5 (!) years now. :surprise:
So if his school rapport is good at the end of this school year he’s getting a kitten ::) (thanks to his mammie >:( ) .
Not Wodan i’m worried about buy my bouncyboy Diesel :suspious: ….
Had cat as a child myself but those creatures seem to be totaly beyond my border of intelligence :butt: .
How do you introduce a mini tiger to a bouncy wolfy? And what do i need to look out for? What troubles can i expect from both of them?
All the boyos know about cats is that it is something they can chase of the property without holding back :-\ . And since my chicks ‘n birds and cats don’t go well together our future Oscar won’t be alloud out of the house.
So tell me eeeverything you can think of about this. My turn to pick your brain bwahahahaha :-* 😀

MemberPut the kitty in a large crate with food water bed and litter tray while the dogs are around, that way they can see and get familiar with each other but you can control the meetings 😉
Both Tizzy and Bramble stayed in a crate for 3 -4 weeks, son let them run around in his bedroom for some of the day.June 11, 2010 at 9:37 am #100227Diesel73
The first few times he was on a lead then as he was calmer then I had him sat next to me off lead. You play it by ear and by watching. 😉

MemberDiesel :suspious: lead …. lead and Diesel means bingotime >:D …. THA way to make Diesel go nuts and over the moon is when you reach for his collar to put it on ::) …. :-\ Hmmm, he’s good with poultry, sweet with the featherd babies… perhaps better if i just glue him to my leg.
The worrie i got is because he and Wodan have been ordered to hunt down àny cat on our property since they were tiny puppy.
Ordered by…. me  . (that banging noise on the background you’re hearing is Dieseldude hitting his head on the desk :death: )By the way… for 99% Oscar is a fact. Am picking him up tomorrow when kids are at school. They got noooo clue :tease: .

MemberWe will need pictures of Kitty ;D
Because you are bringing the kitty into the house you may find the boys will accept it so long as you can be the big boss man and keep control :ok:
Tam is better with the chickens – only two weeks.
OH said they are a pain in the butt, trying to do something in the run and Mabel and Meg in the way trying to see what he is doing – very tame already :embarrass:June 21, 2010 at 5:59 pm #100231Diesel73
MemberWay to go Tam! :ok: See? A walk in the parc 😀 hahaaha. If only we knew that upfront ha? 😉
I’ll upload pics this coming weekend. This week it’s going to be a crazy house here ::) .
As far as Oscar goes… We got Oscar  . But ‘he’s ‘ got quite a story attached to ‘him’. (It’s actually a she, but don’t tell my son 😉 )
I’ll fill you in on the rest later, when i got the pics up. In short; Oscar is actually a little ‘rescue furrball’. ‘He’ was due to end up being drowned in a rainbin :'( .
‘He’s’ to small to leave mam yet, never seen a vac, never been de-wormed, never ate anything else than mammilk and cheap goowy catfoodcrap, etc, etc.
But ‘he’ been vacced, de-wormed, is here and sleeping at the moment 🙂 . Facing 5 days of anti-biot and 2x a day anti-biot eyecream for ‘his’ eye infection.
The little furrball had a bad bad start. But now on to better days i pray 😉 .June 21, 2010 at 7:16 pm #100232*Lassie*
Member‘ He’ will be bossing the dogs around after a month
As I said because you have brought the kitty in the house the dogs are less inclined to chase – unless kitty goes outside then they may be tempted. Depends on the cat, we have one who will just run and two who will stand their ground and have a go back at the dog. Most dogs think twice about taking on an angry cat. 😉June 26, 2010 at 8:25 pm #100233Diesel73
MemberTurns out… I was worrying for noooothing hahahaha. Didn’t mention this but little while ago my mate’s Kaukasische shepdog ate his 2 kittycats :scared:….. So i was little worried but not more….
Well here it is, the story about Oscar…
Wanted a shelter cat. You know, to do a good deed, feel somewhat like a hero :tease: hahahaha and save a kittycat ending up getting his final shot 🙁 . But since we got a shipload of animals… thought little kitten would be best  .
Found catshelter. Had kittens  . Was asked if i already hàd a cat. Said ‘no’. Was kindly informed that either i had to adopt TWO kittens at once or was not granted a kitten but only a cat older than 1 year old. ( ??? )
Said ‘ok, if you got a cat that is good with dogs, children, chickens, ducks, turkeys and all their youngens, i’ll take him’ ;D .
Was kindly informed ‘how am i suppost to know? We can’t tell, but if you want a kitten you either take 2 of them or none at all from us’.
Said ‘woman ::) … i want to start with ONE. I no catman, i’m a dogman, but i’m willing to feed, love and care for ONE kitten till the end of his days’.
Woman kindly informed me ‘to take my cat affection elswhere’…… ??? i still don’t get it but i’m over it >:( .Anyways, after that…..Via via i heared of a couple who live near here. 6 adult cats, all non-castrated, and surprise surprise little while later there are kittens …..
but if no one wants kittens they usually end up being drowned in rainbin (or rainbarrel, don’t know the english word…).So i went, picked Oscar, took him home. I’m not even going to start describing how Oscar was living, i guess you can imagine >:(. In the car i rang the vet to ask if i could come….
Next stop, the vet….
Long story short, my own vet retired, i had his ‘replacer’, am now looking for a new vet  …See, Oscar came without papers, and never seen a vet befor. Thus, no vacs, no nothing and a slight eye infection.
He gave him 2 kitty-vacs, stuffed a de-worm pill down his throat and started selling me his ‘catcrap that comes in a bag food’ (hills sience diet kibble :vomit: )… Guess what my answer was ::) .
Had a short arguement about raw food. He ended with ‘kibble is better for his teet’ and straight after he asked for Oscar’s papers….
Told him he didn’t have any. He looked at me as if i stank like a skunk, took a new vetbook, stuck the vac stickers onto it, gave it his stamp, gave me anti-biot creme for Oscar’s eyes, 5 days of anti-biot pills and and charged me……. 114€ :scared:HE DIDNT EVEN CHECK THE LITTLE FURRBALL OUT! >:D :butt:  He only looked at Oscar’s eyes because I TOLD HIM SO >:( , >:( and again >:( .
He said he’d seen my file, it was 4 years ago since our dogs had their last vacs, the boys never been in to have their teeth cleaned……. So THATS it?? Because we don’t buy dogcrapfood but feed raw, they don’t need their teeth cleaned under complete sedation, and we don’t do yearly booster we obviously don’t make him enough money to be cared about??? :suspious: … stick it up your…, i say.
BUT Oscar’s eyes all better after 3 days, he happy and lively being a small pussycat (i think 😛 😀 )
Wodan is very ‘neutral’ with Oscar. Was interested, sniffed him all over, and doesn’t even mind if Oscar is sitting on him.
Diesel is still confuse  … He wants to play with Oscar, and Oscar does play with him, but not like a dog. And Oscar does NOT love Diesel’s beloved powerplay :baby: . And than Diesel’s confused cause who can this weird build little Groenendaeler puppy NOT like sheppowerplay ???See Oscar looks … (and this truely was coincidence) … like the boys. All black with a little white spot on his chest. 😉
And here is Oscar….
With his little master, my son

MemberYou ask, we deliver ;D .
Well, in 2 days Oscar’s been with us for a month.
His weight has more than doubled, hahahaha and he’s grown. 😉
And what have we learned in this month?
From the boys’ view;
-‘It’ has got pointy ears, a long tail, ‘it’s’ black with a white patch on the chest,
-‘it’ can growl,
-‘it’ luuuurves to chase,
-‘it’ loves to be chased,
-‘it’ lives for food,
-‘it’ has got the belgian shep attitude, as in ‘what i see, want, and what you leave is MINE >:D’,
-‘it’ is stubborn and bold and keeps thinking ‘it’ can steal our food so …. ‘it’s’ a puppy Groenendaeler ;D.
-Just…. ‘it’s’ an oooood one! ‘It’ does not smell like a girl, and it doesn’t look like a boy cause there is nothing to be found no matter how many times we put it on ‘it’s’ back a sniff it all over so==> ::) .
-Nevertheless… we are pleased with the little odd groenendaelerpuppy and got good faith and are sure we’ll make a mighty find shepboy out of hi-…he-… uhm ??? … out of ‘IT’ ;D .
From pussy’s view;
-‘They’ look like me, but :-\ … they behave sssssssstrange ::) . When i’m on my back it means i’m in battle stations >:D . But to them it means….. play ??? .-When i throw my arse in the air and wiggle my tail and lower my head, i’m seriously pissed off, but to them it means… play ??? .
-They got no manners, cause sharing food like civilized cats is obviously to much to ask for these wild panteras >:( .
-The big one is soft and warm to sleep on though, and the young one is fun to play with. He likes chasing games and everytime i go look for him to chalange him for a ‘chasegame’, he’ll be instantly in the mood ;D .
-and when i’m tired and want to take a nap, i go curl up against the big one. For some reason the young one does as the big one tells him to.
What have I learned this month?
-Puppies grow way faster than kittens. (i was worried for a week or so that he didn’t grow  ….)
-Text books and mothers aren’t always right, as since the 5th day that we had him Oscar’s got…. a recall  . Sofar it’s solid inside the house. Not sure what it’s going to give outside the house, but he’ll be on a lead anyway 😛 .
-Text book wrong again about cats and intrails. My pussycat loves…. tripe. Likes it so bad it tried to attack Wodan to steal his ::) . Couht him in the air as he jumped for Wodan. Wodan was not amuzed and sqashed little pussycat with his big foot 😛 .
-Cats growl too, and do cats that grow up with dogs know that they are not one? Cause ‘it’ seems to behave the same. It awaits me at the door together with the boys. He waits for his food in the kitchen, with the boys,…
It thinks it’s a dishwasher, again with the boys….

Oscar has got his own set of eating and drinking bowls…

But nope, he wants to eat and drink with ‘the big boys’. 😀

You think he knows he’s actually a ‘cat’? :canadian:

MemberYou think he knows he’s actually a ‘cat’?
Probably not ;D Bramble thinks she is a dog ::)
Bramble and Tam hunt together, Bramble catches wild birds and lets them go where her and Tam can catch them again 🙁Pretty puss :-* we have always had cats and dogs together when I was a kid, never had a problem.
