Mudgiethe first two weeks bringing new dog into your pack (which isnt established enough at the moment) is the time when the new dog will be quieter than usual especially pupster. New place, new people, new pack, new smells – you have to give these dogs 100% at the moment because if you dont you are setting yourself up for a whole load of trouble. :-\ You dont know what is being “said” between the two dogs – you dont know their behaviour well enough for that. If you chastise one you could be reinforcing the other who is in the wrong. Read everything on the board you can but put it into practice. :-\ Reading is easy, managing stuff becomes a bit trickier. If you get this right now and are consistent with it then it will be much much easier in the long term. 😉
At the moment you want these dogs to be skipping together up a staircase. Take it one step at a time – in the dogs time – not yours. And none of this is about dominance is about one dog taking the lead and the other being happy to follow that lead. Its about knowing their place and accepting their place in the pack.
