I wouldn’t go for teaching ‘bark’ either since the dogs are already well-practised at barking and it is one of their preferred behaviours…I’d just teach ‘quiet’.

Worked for me but then I am not a dog trainer, may be well practised at barking but only when they want to do it – sometimes handy to get them to bark when you want them to.
