GuestHi,
Yep, every single one !
Tony Orchard (is in oxfordshire !)
Mary Ann Nester (lovely and runs outdoor agility through summer eve’s weather permitting – would reccommend for anyone already confident handling their dog outside with basic cues in place)
Viv Howe (runs Happy Tails in Moulton, awful venue, teaching mixed, one trainer handled their own off-lead dog aggressive dog during class)
Trudi Bament (a total poppet, does beginners agility and does it very well – sometimes difficult to get hold of and relatively expensive but i would reccommend to anyone not able to cope with Mary-Ann’s outside location)
Laura Wylie (trainer at DDTC, training a mix of trad ob and KCGC taught in a mix of styles – classes too large for my dogs)
Val Harrison (i think this is who my dog walker goes to)
Deidre Long (a lovely lady, only doing puppy classes when i last spoke – would highly reccommend for pup classes/socialisation)
Angela Blencowe (classes held out in a village a fair way north of where we live, i reccommended her to a friend for help but the puppy ended up being re-homed as too bouncy/pulling on lead)
Maria Peploe and Sue Kinchin are both further than Angela and i’ve never heard of them locally.
Alison Gayton (teaches at WDTC, not investigated as yet because its quite far away. Most of these are private classes that cost the earth and only run for 6-8 weeks then you pay again for more classes.
Bucks – mainly agility classes and there’s nothing close enough to the border to consider, Warks there is a DTC at rugby and I think mary ray does HTM as part of that but its a fair distance to go and one of the problems with distance is not the drive – its getting there before the classes start !! 😉

GuestAah now you see your website is more the sort of thing i want to be seeing …
I can tell just from your “books” page that your classes would be just my sort of “thing” now all i have to do is convince you to move closer 😉
How was training with Turid ? I bet it was amazing, i’ve done some training with SHCE too in 2003 which i really enjoyed 🙂

MemberHi, depending where you are in Northamptonshire, it may well be worth the journey to Tony Orchards, we have been there and he is lovely, He is just outside Banbury

GuestHi,
Just on the M1 J15/A43 junction so fairly well placed to get down to Banbury actually.
I dont know if I am going mad – maybe some “oldie” members can help but I thought I remembered something about Tony and residential courses and a big kerfuffle on here – does anyone else remember ?
The website gives basic info but i’m put off by the lack of prices and the phrase ” A training format recommended by Veterinary Surgeons” i cant work out if vets endorse his methods (in which case i would want to know which ones) or if he’s using some kind of format developed by vets in which case most vets i’ve seen know cr*p all about behaviour !
Just out of interest, what did you go for and were your goals achieved if you dont mind me asking? If you went on courses, how much were they ?

MemberHi I took Misty (my rescue) to Tony for a one to one when I first got as she was scared of everything, even her own shadow, he spent time with her and rather than charging me a fortune for more one to ones he advised me to take her away and socialise her as much as poss.Â
When she had gained more confidence we joined the basic obedience class as muh for the socialisation with other dogs as the training even though Misty knew nothing (not even sit).
I found the course very informative, and quite relaxed. During the summer break we also did an intro to agility which was good fun too.
We then did the improvers course too.
The courses are £90 I’m not sure if this is for 8 , 9 or 10 weeks, but the good thing is that they have an indoor classroom as well as outside so they classes are never cancelled due to bad weather.
All training is reward based, no check collars allowed.
I should have a booklet somewhere at home, if you like I will dig it out and send to you next week so you can have a look through it.

MemberBless !
I have a van with Cargo and tailgate guard, so she should be pretty secure (no chance of eating her way through seatbelts and harness as suggested ???)

Guesthehe, i think i forgot to say she’s apparently not a chewer and is a very good traveller !
she’ll be in a crate in my car so no seatbelt chewing here either 😉 oh and i promise to turn up and not just “abandon” you with her !!! (you know i never would have thought of someone doing that to me, i really hope it doesnt happen in practice).
