Memberi understand all of that..really i do…but….it takes more than..it takes much more than a apdt assessment to be able to train other peoples dogs and to my mind they have it back to front…it a huge responsibilty…your decisions could mean the difference between a rehome a pts a number of things…are you really ready for that?
have you as yet been bitten in the backside…the calf…the hand…the face…have you then been able to excuse it, assess it, repair it?
what operant conditioning methods are you using for training….at what age of dog are you advising this….what experience do you have of classical conditioning in the young or adult dog….what do you know first hand of extinction…..
i admire your enthusiasm…i really do…all the young folk on this board will know i really mean that but being accepted as a member of this org at this age with limited exp. scares me…it really does…both for you and the dogs and their owners…as i said…you ever want help …then contact me…

MemberHmm yeah, i’ve never really thought about that, but i suppose its better to have the backing of APDT than people i know who offer training advice without having a clueย ::)

Guestjust passed my a.p.d.t assessment!
Well done!ย What do you have to do for that?ย
I’ve never understood the APDT after reading on their site that
“Membership in the Association is open to all who pay annual dues and includes individuals with a wide range of experience, knowledge, and skill.”
and
“nor does the Association set standards of skill or competence. “
and
“We refer, but do not endorse, members listed in our membership directory”I always thought that membership meant a guarantee of quality but it would appear that if you pays for money, anyone can join!ย ๐

Memberactually no fox…i disagree…it gives a false sense of aptitude to the buyer and security to the trainer…..
