Body Language

I took this a while ago (obviously) – it looks to me like some sort of significant body language – but I have no idea what they were saying. Can anyone translate?  😀

They look like they are sizing each other up,trying to work out who would win if it came down to a fight. Both dogs are very tense

From that pic, id say Dorain looks on the defensive, as if Duibh was just having a sniff but Dorain looks like ‘im not happy coz we’ve been here before,so im ready’

I don’t get that duibh is being that serious, but it could just be the picture, as it could change in the next frame you took

from what i remember – and it was a while ago so can’t remember that well – duibh was wagging tail a lot – side to side not up – and making little whiny noises.  :-\

duibh  is asking Dorain to play, what is the difference in ages?
You can’t always tell much from a static picture, the body language can change very quick depending on the mood of the dogs. The vid shows more, Duibh wants to play, Dorain not too sure he wants to, there is something worth stealing in the kitchen >:D Dorain has had enough when Duibh could carry on playing but Duibh doesn’t push it and settles down after the mad five minutes.

Age difference – Dorain was 7 at the time, and Duibh was 2 & a half.

they’re sizing each other up for a fight over who is top dog …… all play is about pack status.
