yesterday Stan had a marrow bone and ussualy we dont have much of a problem with them except for maybe a bit of constipation. however yesterday he had his marrow bone in the morning and halfway through the night i heard him being sick, i checked he was ok but left cleaning the sick up until this morning, i went to clean it up and found that Stan had sicked up some very large shards of bone, im talking maybe 1-2 inchs and sharp.

so now im wondering if it is still a good idea to feed him bones?

just checking it was a raw marrow bone? 🙂

This happens to dodger sometimes, there’s a certain bone we get from morries that he doesn’t seem to crunch to well and occasional brings up some pieces of bone. I just tend to avoid that one

it was a raw marrow bone that i get from the butchers, ive never had this problem before so dont know what to do.

perhaps there is a way to get him to slow down and chew it properly?

Dogs do not chew, and whether he consumed it quickly or slowly will not make any difference to the outcome; it is normal occasionally for this to happen, turkey drumsticks are the most common culprit in my house.

I appreciate your concern, it is normal!

But remember it is also normal for dogs to eat raw meaty bones! :agree:

    very true ;D

so as long as he isnt spitting or pooping major blood then i should stop worrying and give him his bones that he loves
