MemberLook through google images for skeleton and then whatever animal we guessing at – I’d guess fox or badger, doubt badger baiting, probably just shooting – esp if so many carcasses. More likely fox…. let me have another gander!

well, i would presume that this is what the bones are. this is a whole muntjac in a bag. its not too clear, i held the bag open with my foot, but you can make out an antler and eye socket is at the bottom.
max later on found a leg. yummy.

March 17, 2009 at 1:58 pm #111801yep, looks like they may have been disturbed by something and legged it – lucky max !!!

MemberAlmost certainly culled, not poached.
Muntjac deer are not native to the UK – they native to China. Introduced here in the late 1800s. Unfortunately, they are pretty much vermin to anyone attempting to make what little money they can from land. Deer generally are having to be culled on a massive scale because we killed their natural predators – wolves. Problem is huge in some areas and they can be massively destructive. In Scotland land owners MUST cull a certain no. of deer over the course of the shooting season. Is a total pain in the butt for most of them.
I have no problem whatsoever with deer being culled, I do think it’s a shame the carcasses are not being used for something tho! We’re in a recession, right – free venison for everyone!
March 17, 2009 at 5:52 pm #111803isnt it the muntjack ones that live alone and can be quite tricky when approached by humans ?

Memberthey dont taste too nice…hence me saying practice poaching…
ok…to shoot a deer takes skill and practice….mJ’s are good practice

Memberas they are not native, i think you dont need a licence to shoot them, but why go to the trouble of dumping them? why not leave them where they fell. ok, rotting carcass, rats foxes etc attracted…. answered own question if they were shot on their own land.
not very nice to find though and dumping that way i would have thought is illegal.

Memberthat’s awful… have no issue with culling but to just dump in a bag… seems such a shame, such a waste of life :-\
