MemberOk, for a while now Matt and I have fancied the idea of keeping chickens ;D We always thought ok, we’ll wait til we get a house with a bigger garden etc but…..yesterday he said “what’s to stop us having them here” and I said “nothing really” So we were at my mums for dinner last night and popped round to see her neighbour who just has 2 chickens, hardly take up any room and we are really up for it now! ;D We think we’d like 3 or 4, mums neighbour has offered us their old hen house and a water feeder, so we just need to make a run and obviously sort out some hard standing for them in the garden, so it’s easier to clean. Ooh I can’t wait ;D Got some books to have a read up on them and I have the number for someone who sells them ;D
Ok one question!!! Piper!!! How do I stop her from going nuts at them? ;D Bev ??? Any tips?
Does anyone else have chickens? 🙂

MemberI think Piper will be ok once she’s used to them, it’s the initial “what are they doing in my garden” that I’m concerned about ::)

MemberAs long as the run is pretty sturdy, she will get used to them.
course you could clicker train her to be calm around the chicks-
Or you could just clicker train the chickens! ;D ;D

[/quote]Are you a vegetarian ?
Most people in the villages kept chicken, duck, geese (for Christmas) and the odd pig or two. If a hen was a bad layer or you were short of money then it went in the pot.April 7, 2009 at 10:43 am #99459*Nat*
MemberLol they’re for eggs ;D Matt said if one stops laying he’ll feed it to Piper 😮 😀
