MemberHmm, interesting answers. From hanging around dog forums, I get the notion that a lot of people have housebreaking problems.

MemberHi,
I also get the impression that a lot of people find house training extremely difficult. Personally, I find it quite easy but I’vre done it a lot over the years with a lot of dogs. Maybe that makes a difference.
Or maybe, housetraining is really the first thing you have to really work at with a new dog and the amount of effort required, particulalyl for first time dog owners, is more than what was expected at times.
I’ve usually been very lucky in that respect i nthat I’ve almost always had more than one dog at a time. So any new dogs, whether young puppies or older rescues, get to learn a lot form the other dogs.

Memberi say aggression of any type. It can stem from one bad experience and be unintentionally re-enforced by people not understanding it or how to deal with it. I think its a behavior that is quite easily picked up but is one of the hardest to change…..

MemberThe top 3 problems that people want help with are always the same:
recall
jumping up
pulling on the leadJuly 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm #78681Mudgie
MemberNever had an issue with recall – velcro to leg – even as a puppy if off lead always came first time. Always.
Never had an issue with housebreaking or toiletting either – although much easier in summer than winter ;D
Jumping up never a big deal either – pulling on lead – that a different story. Fixed now but took a lot of work. :boooo:
