so how is the credit crunch affecting everyone and everydogs lives?

well more dogs are being dumped but i also wonder if more dogs are also visiting vets due to diet changes etc as folk look for cheaper foods….

my sister was at a car boot and she said there was a guy doing a roaring trade with out of date dried dog foods and stuff

we are feeding lots more free bones and meat/fat trimmings and less purchased chicken wings and not such a variety of fruit and we have even risked the hyper affect of offal like lightly cooked hearts

the supermarkets are certainly selling more hearts, livers, oxtail etc…..tesco do a tub of chicken livers for 48p that makes a good kong filler when made into a paste with other stuff added and their own cottage cheese and quark is very cheap

treats have become more valuable and we been getting bog off dried fruits such as apricots and making more home baked oat biccies…

mo discovered that the local poundland had started to sell sardines in oil …5 for a pound and large bags of monkey nuts also a pound….if you can cope with the mess and your dog is ok with them they great fun  🙂

netto are doing ltr bottles of good olive oil for £3 this week so we stocked up on that

so whats everyone else doing…how about you groomers?  are there more hairy beasties around…bigger gaps between appointments

btw…i lost my temper last week in tescos…. >:D been a bit grumpy of late…actually mo says i been a pain and need treatment  😀

i thought i would treat them to a lamb shoulder shank each, couldnt find them on the shelf….asked the meat assistant where they had gone did they have any out the back…we dont do them…yep you do i buy them for the dogs…her answer  >:D  lucky dogs we in a recession you know….i went from 0 to 90 in 3 seconds… :embarrass: :embarrass: went along the lines of wtf has it got to do with you what i feed my dogs….we eating bogoff ham they getting lamb shanks…is that a problem for you…Mo had done a fast exit by the time i had finished…we never did finish the shopping  :gum:

good tip about poundland.. shall check it out, there’s one next to work

To be honest we hadn’t thought about Fritz’s dinners and recession.. like you say, he gets better than we do at times!

I made a chicken soup last night from the left over carcass after making his dinners for the week… that’ a first for us, will do that more often and tweak the ingredients

We always tend to buy mince etc that is on offer

Feeding him your way works out cheaper than buying the packets of Naturediet / burns anyway, and we know we have a healthier dog because of it.
I did notice that sardines were cheaper than mackrel in the shop yesterday so shall prob buy sardines only in future (or was it the other way around)

I remember you saying in the past you have bought veggie juice from somewhere like Lidl, Bev… do you just pour that one dinners or dilute a bit and add?

our long term plan is to get a chest freezer.. then we could stock up on cheapy stuff whenever we see it without having to worry about it going off or not being able to freeze it  :ok:

you could always do what my gran used to do when she had excess….bottle it in kilner jars  ;D ;D

it is lidl that do the veggie juices they about 80 odd pence for a litre…german brand i think…i dont dilute them as my lot used to veggy and fruit juices…look for the ones that are low on the tomato %

    ummmm

Girls still get their bones, we either do or dont pay for the chick carcasess, if we pay it £2 per bag.
Butcher is doing boiling chicks for £1.75 so that gets cooked and stripped down for a porridge

Livia’s food- we were buy a leg of pork and the stripping it down, but she was going through the legs too quickly.

local farmshop for veg and olive oil and fish in oils tins 200g for 40p

well its not to good down here on the island, because of the price of food at tescos im down to eating noodles and bread 😀 stan is still on wainrights and chappie although the price has doubled in the past 3 months so i am having to consider changing his food but am a bit scared to incase i upset his tum again, so if anyone has any ideas im all ears ;D

Well not much has changed for Izzy except i have been sticking to local butchers and morries for bones instead of ordering from Sheepdrove.  I was paying £20 for a load of bones but the last couple of times all they were sending was breast of lamb and i can get that at morries for a lot less!!

And i’ve been getting the veg from the farmshop or market.  1 cauliflower was 1.79 in morries the other day and it was yellowy and small, i went to the market and got 2 beautiful white large ones for £1!

Well i have just launched my business! All my advertising products arrived this morning so got to advertise like mad now. My diary is already pretty full for next few months so I will just have to give it my best shot and keep my fingers crossed. Luckily I have some great contacts in the dog world who have helped me so much.
