I like James Herbert, best book is not horror it’s called Fluke – about a man reborn as a dog, it’s brilliant

MemberYes I agree James Herbert is much better I read Fluke a long time ago too, I am one of those
avid readers, since I ‘ve joined here and had Jessie haven’t had much time for reading though.the last one I read was horrid its his new one the ghosts of chrickley hall.
i tend to read more thrillers now and fantasy got into Raymond Feists world read them all waiting for the next saga.

Memberwuthering heights is brilliant – i point blank refused to read it cos my mohter kept trying to make me and kept following me round reading bits of it at meย >:D – but then when i slipped a disc in my back and was somewhat incapacitated i said i wanted a book to read and was given that one so no choice.ย >:D but is very good.ย ;D
a tale of 2 cities may be my favourite dickens – the bit with the knitting round the guillotine is very well written.
also a thomas hardy fan – first one i read was jude the obscure when i was 13 – always been into the cheerful stuff.ย ๐

MemberI’ve never got further than the first few chapters of a tale of two cities, ” …the best of times”
and all that.
tried several times must give it a go to get to the guillotine bit.Ive read quite a few 19th century writers and also enjoyed theย earlier stuff I managed to read fanny hill at twelve and lady chatterlies lover not much later.
my mum drew a line at the slave trader books like mandingo and drum and stuff like that and confiscated them.
I devoured gone with the wind and practically know every word of the LOR. but thats a habit from childhood and not the films.
I think we need a new books thread
