Guesti walk my farrokh in the mornings on a tracking lead because one morning he was off lead and ran over to a dog on a lead a small dog the owner was not very happy and shouted at my dog so i went to get him back and said don’t shout at him shout at me blame me not him and i told him from now on he would be on a lead i saw him a week later and he said thank you so i said if i had a small dog and a big dog that i did Now i would be the same every body has the right to walk their dog in peace and every afternoon i take my dog up the heath away from all the other dogs and let him off lead to run he meets all his dog mates in the morning half five still on his long lead as i don’t want to lose him the owner of the small dog could have reported me for having a dog out of control but he was very good when he saw that he was on a lead every morning i was lucky might not be next time

MemberNacho never acknowledges other dogs, or cyclists, joggers, anyone when out on a walk ::) If another dog approaches him he will allow a sniff and will sniff back but then just trots on ;D Sometimes I find myself apologising for him being so unsociable.

MemberFritz usually doesn’t bother too much with other dogs when off the lead, unless they are blatantly up for a play.. he’ll just scoot past and plod along but if on the lead he will always want to say hello ::)
I have no problems with other dogs coming up to Fritz when off the lead… it’s a good thing, he likes it  but i don’t appreciate it when he is on the lead cause he doesn’t react in the same way.. so if we are able to let him off we do, if we see a dog on the lead Fritz goes back on until we are past them 🙂August 16, 2009 at 11:34 am #112737SuzAndTheDiva
MemberI think thats very sensible of you. I was walking Honey up the fields just now and heard a woman yelling for her dogs turned round to see tow VERY large and VERY fat labs running full pelt at Honey ::) Honey not impressed but stood her ground and they gave her a good sniff. They then thought they would turn their attentions to me – i think i musta made it clear from my body language that i did NOT want to be jumped on by 80kilos of lab – they stopped a foot from me and ran back to their mummy – I WAS cross they were totally out of control and could of trampled Honey – who was th eonly one behaving ::) And if they had both jumped me which was very obviously their intention i would of hit the floor im not so big that i can withstand being bounced on by two large labs!
