Suz – I took Bonnie & William to the groomer at Moulton College – probably the lady who is doing the teaching for Anna.
Whatever they did to stop them moulting so much was ACE and I certainly cant seem to replicate it even with my coat king and furminator – they came back smelling lovely but they also both came back with scrapes which became infected the next day ::)

MemberOuch scrapes don’t sound very nice 🙁 I have done some grooming with the girls up there before and I honestly think they are very nice towards the dogs otherwise i wouldn’t have booked on ;D Hope Wills and Bonnie ok now 🙂

MemberLOL Claire if every dog owner could replicate what us groomers could do – we’d be out of a job in weeks 😉 Is why you bring them to us – cos were good ;D

Yep Suz I am doing a 2 week intensive course at Moulton College to teach me basics about grooming as i’m just a beginner ;D I would then like to progress onto higher courses and eventually add it onto my dog training and walking business. Always been interested in grooming and think i will enjoy it (reason i asked if you knew about seminars) want to learn as much as i can 🙂 Thats the plan!
[/quote]i too am planning on doing a grooming course this coming October. I’ll do the city and guides level 2 first then the level 3 straight after 🙂

MemberGood Laura – thats the way to do it, if people have their way grooming with be a lot more regulated soon than it is right now – doesnt hurt to gain the qualifications 🙂
I dont know all these budding groomers – hope you girls are fit ;D ;D

MemberThere’s someone up here who has opened her own shop after only doing the level two grooming course (not going on to do the advanced) I know someone who has done the second level and she said that they teach you have to clip but not how to cut or style (that happens in the advanced course) so how this woman is grooming, i don’t know? Was at the same friends grooming salon today and we had a customer come in and say they are bringing their dog here because although the other groomers is closer, the groomer has cut her friends dog quite badly on the front leg. Accidents do happen but it doesn’t seem like this woman has enough experience to be grooming on her own?

MemberI can tell you how shes managing to groom – BADLY and at the expense of others groomers reputations – a level 2 is NOT sufficient qualification OR experience to set up on your own :'( And yes I think level 2 does some basic clipping- but thats it.

Memberwe’ve had quite a few people coming from her salon
May 9, 2009 at 6:10 pm #99580Hi,
I put the scrapes down to not looking over the dog before grooming – both in similar places underneath where coat goes from thick + undercoated to sparseish.
Still cost me some money at vets so they wont be going back there 🙁
