    Hi Melinda
Re Cocker as Bev said do the ears with the blue ear cleaner, I would suggest said cocker was bathed all over in Hibiscrub it will clean the skin of bacteria whether she has been mud wallowing or just got the itches, you can buy Hibiscrub cheap in any chemist

he will develop into a ‘normal’ pointer …promise  ;D

for the other skinny hairless gunners that come on here….such as mudgie ….it been a long long time since i saw a breed of this type that was too scared to cross the threshold to the outside….and it not the outside…and it not the door…it THAT threshold…he been punished for ‘going’ first..for ‘lunging’ through the door…thats what happens when someone is too hard on a lively dog and doesnt teach door manners nicely….uses punishment before reward ( the reward being the going out)….not sure if either of you noticed in the first attempt? (’twas very early) …but he actually looked at his rear end when the door was opened…he was looking for the leash being applied or threat of…across the rear….he hasnt been yanked back…it wasnt a neck end reaction…he been lead whipped….he also only been on a flexi….so lord knows what the whack was done with…he doesnt yet know lead around legs stuff…he used to the tangle of a flexi and he hasnt learnt the ‘pointer’ type stepping action to distangle because a flexi grabs/wraps and holds whereas a normal lead relaxes…he did good…he was making the choice to be back at my side in order to go forward after about 15 mins….he will learn…time love patience…. 🙂

I didn’t notice that Bev, poor boy must be so scared.

Jack had him out in the garden after you left, playing fetch with him and he seems to be learning ‘drop it’ which is encouraging, though it’s far from perfect.  he did something a bit odd with a chew we gave him, he took it outside with his tail between his legs, checked to see if anyone was behind him then started playbowing at the chew and then rolling on the grass next to it…. did that for a minute or so before he actually ate it.  He saw Simba scoffing hers, so maybe that’s why he actually did eat it?

Another encouraging sign, when I went home for lunch I gave them both a cuddle (waited until he wasn’t being anxious though!) and then they both settled, totally relaxed at my feet with their paws touching.  Considering that yesterday she snapped at him every time he came near her, this is progress.  ;D

good…that because you have reduced the re-enforcement already…well done

that not odd  ;D that normal…he a gunner (sorry val….he a ‘worker’  ;D ) he killing it …thats good…he just had that punishment applied for food stuff too…so he was unsure but once he felt secure about it the genetics kicked in…hunt it get it kill it make sure it dead then eat it….bless him…you will do this…he will correct the shite….eithet that or i retire  🙂  think we need to discuss ‘chews’….

Oh dear, I thought Dentisticks were harmless, they’re one of the few things Simba can have without getting poorly – so just assumed Oscar would be ok with them too.

They’re real pigs ears, well I got them from pets at home so probably not ‘fresh’ real.. dogs trust told me to get them for him.  Simba’s Sea Jerky is fab stuff, it’s great for the coat etc but she went off it so I have a bag of that he can have.  Smelly though!

I’m not averse to feeding them meat, it is my decision to be veggie not theirs, but i’m not sold on the idea of BARF diets, bones would make me feel a bit  :vomit:

I’m happy to get him a good quality food like Naturediet etc, if the Arden Grange/Oscars isn’t up to scratch for him.  I want him to be healthy!
