    Thanks Izzie  :-*

Yes it’s all in hand Cheryl, we have one about 15 minutes drive away so quite lucky. The vet will refer her when she’s ready. She has to have more x-rays at 3 weeks post op to see how its healing, if all is ok she may go for short 5-10 min walks, so hopefully not long after that we can start hydrotherapy. The first session is free and £16 thereafter. I may be able to claim on insurance for it too.

She fianally did a wee in the garden tonight on cue  :ok: Just been wetting her bed up to now bless her! Eating and drinking fine, I made Bev’s porridge today. Leg looks puffy but not bothering her too much. Got vets tomorrow evening for a check up so fingers and paws crossed  🙂

Bought a Comfy Cone Collar today, she really hated the buster collar, so hard and heavy. This is great, she’s got used to it and is asleep with it on now so I can rest easily tonight that she wont lick her wound  :ok:

They look good- much better than the comfy collars.

Alfie one of my charges has a comfi collar- livs thought it was great fun to try to kill it  ::)

but he was much better with it on than the plastic collar

    A little update –

Got results from vWD test this morning and she is clear, so that’s good. On the other hand we still need to get her platelet levels up so she’s been put on steroids for a couple of weeks  :-\ Must admit I wasn’t too sure about doing this but the vet assures me its the best thing for her as we need to make sure her blood clots properly. The only downside to this at the moment is that her staples will have to stay in a little longer.
The vet was pleased with her leg today as the bruising has faded a little and the swelling has started to go down. I’ve been doing little massages on her leg and applying Arnica cream so hope that’s helping. She is starting to put the foot down more so hopfully once the swelling is gone she’ll put more weight on the leg. The wound itself is looking good, no redness and she being good and leaving it alone! Her temp was slightly up yesterday and it’s back down today so fingers crossed we got her on the mend  :ok:
Another check up tomorrow and also a blood test to see how the platelets are doing. Vet says this could be a one off, caused by anything, or could be long term, will have to play it by ear!

Are you allowed to give her the Arnica pills?
If you are that would help.

Willow had them when she hurt herself slipping on the ice, think she liked them, as soon  as I picked up the pot she sat in front of me wagging her tail ;D

Yeah Piper don’t mind them either  🙂

Big improvement this morning, most of the bruising has gone and the swelling has gone down alot  :ok:

She also starting to put her foot down more now, think it was so swollen before it was too uncomfortable. It’s good to see her improving everyday, still a way to go yet though  🙂

Another check up at the vets this evening and blood test!

Vets really pleased with Piper’s leg tonight, swelling going and the bruising, huge improvement. She took more blood, will get results tomorrow and see if platelets are ok, fingers crossed.

We were discussing whether this could have been a reaction to medication she’s had, were talking about the Convenia which is a long acting antibiotic, it last 10 days, she’s going to do some research into it as she and I are convinced this is a one off reaction and not long term

I’ve added the x-ray pics to the link above if anyone’s interested, I find them quite fascinating  🙂
