    πŸ™‚Β  there you go…well done

he self cueing to it…look through his eyes….think of what he is seeing…and bear in mind what impact there is on all his other senses…

when herders did the driving of cattle or the carriage dogs ran with the coaches or huskies pulling the sledges etc were on the move they had to go miles…they had to conserve the calories and reduce the strain on the joints and muscles etc…so they would go into the gait taking an easy visual line …the hedge..the tree lines etc…because every movement like the twist of the head broke the gait and that took extra effort and energy….so they would measure the pace….get the heat exchange going through the mouth/tongue….set the limmediate line and get the body moving fluently….that is what he is trying to do…i dont know how much you are speaking to him but i would be just giving the odd amount of quiet verbal encouragement…let him ‘gait’Β  πŸ™‚

how far and what sort of speed are you up to with him?

the most i have done is 8 mile with a half way rest stop (about a half hour rest stop on the beach)

not sure what speed we do, but i’d love to no so going to buy one of those gadget things

i speak to him very little. I have the odd word to correct him back in if he strays off or goes to far away from me…… got a video of that actually. Was cycling away on the same path and he started moving off towards the grass, i did a short correction of ‘errr’ and he moved straight back over towards me. I then told him a very polite thank you πŸ™‚ will have to post the vid up once I’m on the other computer πŸ˜‰

ok will wait for the vid…the correction may well have made him start to look for cue…the is this ok? ..dont correct with an err…just use a cue…you could take advantage of that self cue …’on the line’ then re-enforce with ‘good on the line’ or similar etc

i have a client that does this seriously…racing bike …he uses a torch…mounted on the bike… aimed to spotlight the set distance in front of dog…dogs line and cue is to follow the spotlight…. πŸ™‚ when bike stops spot light freezes…dog stops…when bike turns light turns dog just follows the spotlight….a clever solution i thought… πŸ™‚

that sounds really clever  i have noticed that he tends to stay a certain length away from the bike so will add in the new cue next time instead of using the errr or erm πŸ™‚
