well he doesn’t seem to mind the daily cream applying sessions 😀 ::) Was lying flat on his back, between my legs for half and hour as we watched tv tonight – he must like the cooling effect of the aleo vera gel verrrrry much for him to want to lie with me for more than a minute ::)

the scabby stuff is still here 🙁 i managed to get rid of it about a week after i first posted but i must have missed some in his extra furry bits because it’s spread again – this time all over his belly, inner thighs, nipples, willy, nuts and ending at his belly button.Is this contagious (sp) because the first time it came on dodger i noticed that Tila’s was back and all over her like before. He’s been on vit E and selenium for two weeks now to boost is immune and every night he’s been rubbed with a skin gel with aleo vera. He also has manuka honey put on about once or twice a week?? I really can’t afford to take him to the vets but i don’t want him to end up like Tila 🙁

any idea’s on something else i can try and also why it’s not going away? :help:

If it does end up at the vet it shouldn’t be more than about £35 for the consult and antibiotics if that’s what they recommend (which they probably will)… Depends on whether you think your treatment is clearing it up at all…  If you think it’s getting worse even with you treating it, better the £35 (which I know ain’t cheap) than having him get a bacterial infection throughout his body.

Good luck – keep us posted on the nasty nut progress – R has had a few hotspots so have been taking the advice off this post for use with him.

if it hadn’t cleared up completely about a week after i first treated him then i would be at the vet now but because it cleared up then came back i’m a little more hesitant – plus i really don’t want to take dodger to the vet with his problems with people :boooo: i can only imagine his reaction :-\

Val….Bev anything stronger i can use on it? ???

Can you use Sudocrem on dogs, fantastic stuff, gentle enough to use on children, maybe it would work  :-\

Ooooh yeah, what a good idea!!  Yep, can be used on doggies (well I have!) and horses – my mum always uses it on our accident prone horsies.

Works brilliantly on the horses – things like mud rash etc…

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere before about it being ok for dogs but not Savlon  :-\ Bet it’d work a treat Laura, give it a go  🙂

Thanks again Nat and all who helped :-* his nasty nuts are pretty much back to normal now! the red coloured fur is also going back to it’s original whiteness too :yes:

dodger had been clear of this for about a month now but i’ve just noticed about a week ago it’s back >:(

I’ve been bathing him in hibiscrub as well as applying sudocrem on them but they don’t seem to be going away? All of his feet are very red and he’s licking/nibbling away at them but he has no scabs in them? Could it be connected?

Anyway i think we gathered that it was a strep infection… if so is it contagious? Is it a condition where once you get it pretty much have it on and off for life? What is it exactly? Why does it happen? What’s the best treatment to get rid of it and keep it at bay? :help:

streptococcus is a bacteria…we all have it….it lives in the throat, ears on the skin etc…there are different strains….now and again with an underlying cause the bacteria go wampy…knock of anything with yeast in…..get some live yoghurt down him…a decent quantity…has he got an irritation from the beach?….

whats inside his ears like…any change in breath smell?
