October 22, 2008 at 1:04 pm #62380Anonymous GuestHi, What diet / supplements / treatments etc etc ….. are out there for a dog having seizures please ? Claire x October 22, 2008 at 1:06 pm #84157Izzie MemberI am sure someone said oats were good for helping with seizures, will have to have a look for you Claire, it might have been Bev who said it :-\ October 22, 2008 at 1:08 pm #84158Anonymous Guestthat would be a really great help Izzie 😀 October 22, 2008 at 1:14 pm #84159GSPmad Memberdon’t know re diet, but scullcap and valerian is meant to help… avoid EPO that can exacerbate them… October 22, 2008 at 1:16 pm #84160GSPmad Memberhttp://www.vetscriptions.co.uk/EPIT90.html this is another supplement… October 22, 2008 at 6:10 pm #84161SuzAndTheDiva Membernot sure Claire guess it would depend why the dog was seizuring……groom a border who suffers, food exacerbates it cant remember what makes it worse though…sorry :-\ October 22, 2008 at 10:23 pm #84162Dree MemberStrange that this question should come up here, as it’s just come up on another list I’m on. We put a boxer on to a natural diet years ago (which included porridge oats) and within three months he had gone from a dog which had grand mal seizures about three/four times a week to petit mal just a couple of times a month. Was it the diet? I obviously can’t say for sure…..but it’s certainly worth a try. If you want me to put it on here, I will. October 23, 2008 at 1:13 am #84163GSPmad Memberhttp://www.dorwest.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SV that’s the scullcap and valerian – but technically it’s not witchywoo cos it’s licensed veterinary medicine but an over the counter one. 😀 can prob get cheaper stuff in other places tho. :-\ October 23, 2008 at 8:19 am #84164Anonymous GuestHi, I have some S&V here from misty so I can pop that over 😀 Dree – yes please 🙂 She’ll be on whatever there is at rescue at the moment. Suz – I am suspecting it is hormone linked but not completely sure still more research to do !
