GuestThe kennel that owns the dog I’m interested in wont allow a mating without the CHV so if I go with them my minds made up I suppose! Seems quite popular in Dobe breeders.

interestingly, point 8 just says they have to provide a written record of immunisation measures taken, not that they have to vaccinate… but have to say i thought they had to vacc. ??? am sure is what i was told by kcab i got puppy from… he had had 1st vacc and i actually didn’t want him to have had. ::)

Guesthi,
i thought it had been changed so they had to vacc – my apologies if this isnt the case.
there were doubts that people would buy unvaccinated pups expressed by the breeders at CHC so in effect i guess many of them will have to anyway.

GuestKC are very clearly strongly “pro vaccination” + yearly boosters. – including lepto
CHC is recognised as a KC course provider and clearly is “anti vaccination”
quote :Puppies need to be taken to a vet for a health check and to be registered with the practice (link to Find a Vet service). Your vet will advise you on vaccinations, worming, microchipping and health issues. Puppies can receive their first vaccination from approximately eight weeks. This will vary depending on the normal practice of your vet.Your vet will start your puppy on a course of vaccinations against the four main infectious diseases: Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis. All of these diseases can be fatal, so after its first course of vaccinations, it will need re-vaccinating annually.
Keep the vaccination certificates safe as you may need to show them at boarding kennels, dog- training classes or if you take your dog abroad.
Until your puppy is fully vaccinated, you should not take it anywhere where it might come into contact with dogs or ground that may be infected, but you can take it out in your arms or the car to get it used to different places and situations.

Is this quote from the CHC? Has Catherine lost the plot????? :surprise:
I need to check with the KC as well, because in obedience a *lot* of people thought that you had to vaccinate…..when, in fact, you simply have to abide by the statement on the entry form which states that (to your knowledge) your dog has not been in contact with disease, etc.
That is a Kennel Club statement that Claire has quoted. See here.

As I understand it Claire is saying the KC are coming across as very pro-vaccination. CHC is recognised as a KC course provider but are anti-vaccination.

The discussion in “Vaccination and Immunisation: Dangers, Delusions and Alternatives (What Every Parent Should Know)” by Leon Chaitow, is that SV40 contaminated vaccines were used in millions of individuals in the 1950s ad 1960s in polio vaccine, the age-group which now have AIDS. From the book:- “SV40 is immunosuppressive. In animals it causes large numbers of sarcomas. SV40 decreases protein production in animals infected with it, leading to muscle wasting. These are symptoms of AIDS.” There’s much more, but that’s the basics. Interesting….and frightening.two sides to every debate….this was covered at a conference on retroviruses and opportunistic infections held by the Nat Cancer Inst in states some years ago, where the findings were that there was no support for the suggestion that SV40 impacts in lymphomagenesis and was not related to AIDs at all…i seem to remember the THT put out a statement …..
And I seem to remember that, in fact, the studies were only done for cancer….AIDS was actually implied, but when the question was raised about scientific studies done for Hiv or AIDS, none had been done. (But if you have references, I’ll be glad to read them. Although, to be honest, I have read many “scientific” studies which mean zero to me. The authorities are good at hiding the truth behind figures.)
