    the annual reminder folks….

it already too hot for clumsies by 10 am…cubert just walked into the river and lay down panting yesterday at about 11am….and he hates sun block on nose  :vomit:

this is a good article…contains some stuff you may not have thought about…also bear in mind that after a run or being out and about let the dog cool off and make sure breathing has returned to normal before getting into a car that has a high inside temperature

wet towels that have been put in freezer….ice in insulated cups….tell us what you do….

i put giant ice blocks in the water bowl every morning so it keeps the water cool all day. i also always have the windows open in the bedroom as that is the coolest room.

mo has just reminded me of something we do that i have never thought to post…when it hot like this we soak the raw meaty bones in cold water for a couple of hours….the meat and fat absorbs the water so they get more fluid….good for poor drinkers like falkor at the moment….

ice in water good kerrie….our problem is that with the amount of slobber that gets exchanged we re filling water bowls hourly…so they drink and then we give them an ice cube

fully booked out, was when I booked my week.

we will be able to go back every hour, mum is thinking of letting me take her car, which is cooler than than the punto, but even so :-\.

No real shade in the car park either

do they have to go with you Izzie? Doesn’t sound like a viable option in the car in this weather hun  :-\

yes they do, as we have training all week.

Will have to put a post on the college site.

Other option would be to take a gazebo and put them in under that

get some thick dark blankets and wet them and cover the car….use those foil insulators on the main windows like the screen and change them about as the sun moves around…you can buy battery operated mini fans and also there is a car one that plugs into a lighter socket …make up some ice pads for lying on….puppy pee pads soaked in water and frozen work well as the crystals absorb and freeze up but the pads stay dry….but i would want to check more than once an hour….

and hassel the college to provide shaded parking areas  p:-)

My dogs go everywhere with me so this is what I do:

cover car up with reflective sheets in the evening, this keeps the car VERY cool prior to entering
I have tinted windows but when I did not I had windowsox on windows so could keep them open
Car is caged so I can have tailgate totally up, tailgate covered with reflective sheet which hangs down and provides further shade
coolmats for dogs to lie on
    ice in water bowls
ice blankets on top of cage
    cooldannas
    fan
bottles of iced water packed around cage
