Ruby, a wonderful exuburent Labrador belonging to Simone, who I walk with each morning, died during the night at the weekend. I have not seen Simone yet but I am so shocked. Simone of course is beside herself, as is all the family and their other brown lab ‘Tia’. I don’t know the whys and wherefores yet, but at just over a year old it is so terrible. If anyone can point me to the Rainbow Bridge link then I can print it off or show it to Simone to prehaps help in some way. Run Free Ruby Angel .:'( :'( :'(

MemberI saw Simone today and found out a bit more. Ruby had a normal day on Friday – two walks, had her supper, had a poo outside then was on the sofa with the children and she just went. The vet has done a minor post mortem but couldn’t see anything for certain. She did think it was neueological and that Ruby died from a brain hemoreage (sorry can spell) and that it was like a light switch being turned off.
What is strange is Tia, their other dog, just went over and smelt Ruby and then since then has acted as normal, not pineing or looking for Ruby at all.Simone is of course still in bits. I said about the Rainbow Bridge and posting on the forum that she had gone over and I hope it helps. Poor Ruby, God bless. :-*
June 23, 2009 at 10:49 am #89771Hi,
I am so sorry to hear about Ruby.
I’m no expert but I would say Tia knew Ruby was dead and gone. She died at home and Tia could smell her, many dog packs are seperated at moment of death and dont know whats happened x x
