Oh no I wouldnt neuter now, not in the peak of his hormones  😉

Ill start back with the crate for now then and watching like a hawk for signs.  He’s not done it today in the house.  Should I be stopping him from scenting over Dantes wees and poos? Or am I best leave alone…

Dante used to wee over Ambers scents all the time and he was always definately bottom dog.

Dante cant barely get his head in jakes crate door nevermind anything else  😀

    Found this article, Ian Dunbar…

    http://dogtime.com/puppy-adolescence-dunbar.html

I know there is no hard fast rule, but when should his hormones started to settle down?  I would say they kicked in at about 6-7 months when things like the scent marking started and the attempted humping of Dante’s back leg  :D.

    Okey dokey 😉

From the article and what everyone has said here, I just need to almost treat him like a 8 week old pup again, i.e. treat everytimes eliminates in correct place, treat for behaving appropriately on meeting other dogs, reinforce recall and normal commands etc and redirect undesirable behaviour such as any attempted humping (Dante is useless he doesnt bat an eye when Jake latches on) but I have always used ‘leave it’ and he does stop before he gets going, pushing his luck with Dante, which I havent seen any indication of so far etc.

At his stage its not something I am worried about, I think I have it in hand, I originally asked as the poo on the sofa was very unsual and unlike him, Im also thinking now that if he forgot to go, then came in started playing with D whilst OH was upstairs he could of just got excited and things got moving and he couldnt hold it…

Let’s face it, when any lad hits his teenage years, all basic training goes out the window!!  (Just you wait 10 years Claire!).  Suppose we should just count ourselves lucky that most of the time it’s just fogetting everything we’ve taught them up to that point!  ::)

Got my computer back now and all working brill so thought Id update, no accidents in the house since, so must of been a little set back.

Still got the poo eating problem though, pineapple doesnt seem to be deterring him, its only Dantes not his own so all Im trying to do is pick up the second Dante has done it, just worried he may see it as more of a prize when he see’s me whisking it away.  The only times he gets to it is when Im not here and it hasnt been picked up.

    Any ideas??

Will he “leave it” if you tell him to?

(And glad the other has sorted itself out!)

Oooh, and is it just Dante’s poo or have you ever seen him eating other dog’s droppings?

Hmmm, had a quick look, will look more later, just from the post you gave as an example, I did think about Dante being on complete and that being a reason.  Dante is still on Autarky (I know I know he is OH’s dog and that is what he wants him to stay on, Ive tried) and Jake is on a combo of JWB and occasionally Chicken Wings as a seperate meal as I never braved full time raw, but then he doesnt touch his own anyway.

Its only again in the last few months since marking everything Dante touches (outside only thank doG) he has started this too.
