Can I pick your brains please ladies
Tam is 10 on the 19th June, apart from the arthritis is healthy and in reasonable nick. Coat has a beautiful shine but now a little thinner but has just cast his coat. Skin is a little dry and flaky  :-\  Fed on Naturediet which suits him, ( had a dodgy tum when younger) has fish oil as one of his supplements. Anything I can put on/in him to stop the skin being so dry?

as they get older they need some diet adjustments…he prob not utilising the fats in the diets as well as he was and and also other conversions will be slowing down…like the fructose/zinc etc…do you give him fruit? if so what? what fish oil are you using?

Loki will only eat fruit if is pulped and mixed in with meat… he used to eat it when he was a puppy – but I have to sneak it in this way now..  Maybe try that? He also doesn’t like bananas..  again – he used to!

soft pears apricots? added grated carrot will help…if wont eat then i suggest a zinc supplement…the oil a good one ok…but if he been on it a hile maybe a break off for 3 weeks or so…give olive oil instead with the green lip muscle and see if you get an improvemnt also vit e capsules …if you break them open and use on hands as a deep massage…that will give some surface help and stimulation…tho i guess with that coat it may take 6 or so to get it in  😀

I found this in Holland and Barrett last time I was in there and use it on Piper’s skin, very good and she likes to lick my hands after  ;D I think it works out a little cheaper than capsules, less waste and probably save you having to burst open 6 capsules  😀

I also use Quistel Spray now and then and she’s on the zinc tablets all the time now. Her skin is alot less flakey lately, she still has balding patches but I think it’s under control and does get better this time of year  🙂

I have alway found as the rough’s get older when they cast coat their skin is dry, just mix a tablespoon of dog conditioner in wather in a container with a spray and use that when you groom, make sure you reach the skin, do not overdo the conditioner as it will just make his coat feel greasy

Kiz just remembered there is some fruit he did like when younger, he picked his own out of the garden.
Strawberries and raspberries ::) are they OK?
Just stopped the green lipped mussel for a while, he’s been on it ages and has now started to pick them out and leave them on the floor, changed to rosehip.
