Memberoh lord – you and jayne at the same time – :-*
read the posts on how to teach stop – this is why the clicker is good because you do not have to use your voice to mark the behaviour so you then dont use your voice to cue – the dog needs to think so we work silently
August 10, 2006 at 7:35 am #92485Between us Lisa, we can turn Bev completely grey PMSL :-*

Memberlol – Jayne!!
I’m sorry Bev!! :-\ 😀 I have now read the Stop and am abit more aware of what I’m supposed to do. I have never used a clicker ??? Do you think I should use a clicker for doing the stop? Would she understand it even though wwe’ve not used it?
August 10, 2006 at 7:42 am #92487Ooo Lisa, get yourself a clicker, they are fab, although I’ve not used it for ages on The Smurphster ::) You ‘charge’ them to it then click and reward away to your hearts content!! LOL

MemberDo you think? :-\ I’m a worried I’m going to confuse myself to insanity (which would’nt take much!!) :-[
OK well, I will look up clickering on here and see what I should do. It does sound that the training would seem easier with one but I’ve never used it before!
Emmy won’t know what hit her, what with whistles and clickers!!! 😀 😀

Memberyou do not USE the clicker for stop – you use a clicker to mark a behaviour so the dog knows that is the behaviour you want and that something good is going to follow – if you start then do it prop. and get it charged and then do something real simple like nose touch to hand and dont start doing anything else until you are both fluent at the concept/understanding it

Right, I will start with a clicker and see how we get on, keeping it simple. Will stop with the stops for a bit until we have got the understanding of the clicker. Oh there’s so much to remember!! :-\ will keep you posted! might take a while though!! 😀
And thanks again Bev…your a star :-* :-* :-*
