MemberWe have two big bowls of water on stands, they get changed every day and topped up when need..
there maybe slobber and grass in them but the cat still drinks out of it, and the other day our springer was drinking out of my sister skip bucket (it was clean just had rain water in it)…Cassie

MemberI only use stainless steel bowls for the dogs….both for feeding and drinking. I would never use plastic. From this site:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic#Toxicity
“…plastics often contain a variety of toxic additives. For example, plasticizers like adipates and phthalates are often added to brittle plastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to make them pliable enough for use in food packaging, children’s toys and teethers, tubing, shower curtains and other items. Traces of these chemicals can leach out of the plastic when it comes into contact with food. Out of these concerns, the European Union has banned the use of DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate), the most widely used plasticizer in PVC. Some compounds leaching from polystyrene food containers have been found to interfere with hormone functions and are suspected human carcinogens[6].”

MemberI have an even more simple reason for not using plastic bowls – I hate to see the dogs chasing them round the kitchen – heavy china bowls here

MemberIt will make some people some money, I prefer few gadgets so stainless steel for mine.
My GSD could pick up the largest ceramic dog water bowl full of water at ten weeks old and promptly smashed it the 6th time he wandered into the sitting room on my tiles!
