GuestThanks everyone. I am looking at the clock now counting the sodding minutes, we leave at 12pm. She’s actually been very good through the night.
The vet gave me some anti-inflamatory last night & although she was holding the leg up permanantly last night she wasn’t limping this morining and was putting a little bit of weight on it but she was walking a little ‘off bonk’ as such. She is lying down much more than usual so the leg must be uncomfortable for her.
She’s been looking at her food bowl in a rather puzzled way wondering why it’s empty & i feel guilty for not letting her eat breakfast but she’ll have to wait. I feel quite objective just now because in a large way i wont need to worry about it getting any worse now.

GuestI’m back, i left Cass there & the vet is going to call me later to let me know what’s going on. He wants to be absolutely certain to rule out everything else so he’s going to x ray her and manipulate the joint to look for any movement in the cruciate, then depending on what he finds he will call & tell me if it needs to be operated on.
He is reluctant to go in if it’s not cruciate because he has an ‘If it isn’t broke don’t fix it’ approach to these things but at the same time if there is any indication that it is what i suspect then i said i’d rather it was done because i don’t want it to end up being an ongoing issue that i have to keep going back with.
Not really anything more i can say at the moment until i know more but i’ll update again. How strange does it feel coming home with an ’empty’ dog lead in your hand?? :-\

GuestThe vet just called, i have mixed feelings at the moment as it’s all a bit mysterious.
He says Cass is absolutely fine & after extensive x rays and physical reflex and manipulation tests he can find no difference in the resistance of the cruciate on either back leg & he says that the one she was lame on is exactly the same as the other one & has not ruptured. All he could offer really was that because this leg was already a slight weak point it may be that she is just more prone to feel it more than on the other leg.
Eitherway he is of the opinion that it would be wrong to open her up with the knowledge that there is nothing inside for him to repair & in that respect i do agree with him but you know when you just have that feeling something just doesn’t quite sit right? That’s the way i feel at the moment – the vet himself was as mystified as me to be honest.
I am happy that she has not had to be put through surgery afterall but also a little unsure of where we go from here really. As i said before it would have been easier if it had been a rupture in need of repair because i would not have to worry about it getting worse, whereas now i worry it could be an ongoing thing that i’ll be seeing again in 6 months time.
I suppose it’s just the unanswered questions it leaves me with because even the vet was convinced it was cruciate when he saw her last night & he’s as stumped as me now.
It’s unexplainable really & just damn wierd – even the vet thinks so. I am going to pick her up at 7pm anyway so she’ll soon be home again. I have found it very hard to be without her in the house, at one point i was convinced i heard her collar tag jingling in the hallway.

MemberUnderstand what you mean Mark, bit like being in limbo what you can and can’t do with her as you aren’t sure what’s causing it :-\ Kisses to Cass :-* :-*
