Worming Dogs.

What do you make of this? I have been reading an article about worming treatments and came accross this – One paragraph in particular that stood out was –

Other worms can be largely controlled by preventing the pet’s exposure to the source of infection. Make sure that your cat hasn’t got fleas, and he is unlikely to catch the tapeworm: Dipylidium. Ensure that your dog isn’t able to hunt rodents, or eat raw meat, and the chance of a Taenia infection becomes remote.

Rubbish Cats can pick up tapeworm from catching and eating birds, I agree with Lassie they have to sell their chemicals somehow.

how does being able to hunt them stop it ???

surely they have to actually catch something 😀

They have to scare you into worming your dogs somehow.  My dogs eat raw, and they’re never wormed.

Yeah, but the site not lying. Leave the meat in the sun until it’s greenish, hairy and starting to develop legs and possibly perhaps it could at one day be ‘bingo’==> you’ll need their medication  :yes: .

You know  ::) … It makes me wonder  ??? …… Man has hunted down the wolf for centuries. All they had to do was feed the wolf some raw meat and they would have been extinct. Djeez, how did wolfkind survive without pharmaceutical companies….  😉

To be fair it is hardly likely that your dog will contract worms from domesticated farmed animals as they are wormed etc.

However if your dog regularly consumes raw fish from certain sources and raw wild rabbits then the risk is much higher as of course these are not subject to animal husbandry techniques
