The mini schnauzer, Dusty, belongs to my friend. It is quite a sad story about Dusty. She had a stroke at 8 months old and her back legs do not work properly. She also has hypothyroidism and has to take a lot of tablets. At the moment she is getting accupuncture at Glasgow Vet School as her muscles are very tight – this helps her a lot. Her hip joint is not right and her knees are frilly. She is waiting on blood test results coming back from America for Mucopolysaccharidosis type 6. My friend is really worried about her at the moment and is hoping she doesn’t have to make a decision in the near future but she says she could not condemn her to a life of pain. Dusty’s back legs fold into each other when she is walking or if she is running she bunny hops – she can run fast when she wants to ;D. She is now 4 years old and we are all praying that something can be done to help her a little more.
