Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum. I’ve been looking for a dog, or puppy, for a few years now, and the first few months of searching was pretty stressful. I first looked for breeders, but couldn’t settle on one of five dog breeds I liked and that would fit into my daily routine and home. I then started scouring the net, but quickly gave up after I came across more, as somebody called them, ‘multi breeders’ than I did acceptable breeders. After reading ads in shop windows, phoning breeders friends have recommended and seeing google ten times a day, I decided upon I’m going to rescue. I’ve always wanted to rescue an animal, be it dog or mouse, but never have. Now, three years after beginning my search, I’m going to pick up a very large, very loud and incredibly friendly Doberman tomorrow evening. Her name is Ruby, though I’m thinking of changing it. Friends of friends told me about Ruby’s owner, and breeder, needing to find a home for her. Her owner is an elderly lady, and isn’t able to get out of the house anymore. Ruby hasn’t any health problems, though I’ve been warned about her eyes. Apparently they get very dirty, and so very gunky. I was told how to deal with this, and assured it wasn’t health related.  🙂

I’m very excited about getting her, and havea list of dog classes to take her to if need be. The first time I met he she was very loud, but she loves people, and has, apparently, always barked when meeting somebody new. I took her for a quick walk outside before decided I was going to give her a home, but she doesn’t pay much attention to dogs across the road, people coming up beside us, etc. I now shaking with excitement as I sit in wait..

Can’t wait to join in with the forum, and Ruby. 🙂

    Thank you everyone.  🙂

The day has been long, and allot of fun! After picking her up at 7pm, allowing her owner to have a tearful good-bye and getting her settled into the car for the journey home, she’s now all tired out and sleeping on the sofa…When we got home, she looked very confused, poor thing. She’s starting to settle in a bit now, and I’ve found out she’s a bread lover. She ended up drooling over the bread that I was sorting out for the chickens. I’m looking forward to getting to know her better, she’s a very smart girl! I’ve already taught her a couple of tricks, but I didn’t want to push her too far, even though she was really enjoying herself.  ;D

At home. I shut her in the hall while I sorted out the cat, just in case she decided to go for him. I needn’t have worried, she sniffed him a bit and then tried playing. Glad he grew up with dogs!

Later on, poor girl was wondering where he mumma was. 🙁
