Bev…. Holiday Advice

he was a nightmare first day/night :'( very very unsettled. Pacing, whining, not leave my side. Wouldn’t even eat unless he could see me….. Took him for a walk and he was not listening at all…. wouldn’t even look at me…..

On the night we were all sitting watching tv and he was just pacing back and forward…. i let him settle himself which he did about 20 mins later. Later i fed him then brought his blanket out and cued a snoozy. After that he was a lot more settled. When we went to bed he came into the room with me but all he wanted to do was get up on the bed and snuggle (what he normally does) i sorted the bed out but everytime he got up it started creaking (apparently i always get the bed that creaks when i go away ::)) and that got him really distressed. :'( About 1am we still not asleep so i went up into my mam’s room and we jumped into her bed. There he settled nicely :yes:

Next day he was a lot better but still very unfocused on me outside, didn’t help with it being a very nice lake with bunnies, ducks, fish, swans and chickens about ::)

On the tuesday, our third day there, he was back to his normal self again. Listening well and giving his grandparents lots and lots of kisses. He also did the most amazing thing when me and my mam took him for a walk….. Dogs not supposed to be off lead because they don’t want them to kill any wildlife but he said as long as dodge is well trained i could let him off….. Anyway we went to a lovely bit of the lake with a mini jetty about 2 metre’s long out into the water. Dodger was having great fun lunging himself off the end into the water and then back to do the same again. He dived into the water and started coming back to the bank when he suddenly stopped dunked his head and then resurfaced with a fish!!!!! A real trout fish!!!

We did happen to notice then it was already dead but we still couldn’t believe he had picked it up. He brought it out onto the grass and then started pawing at it with him feet. It was only small and had a nasty hole near it’s mouth so think it had been caught then thrown back in to the lake then died.
He then lay down with it between his paws, picked it up and started chopping on it’s head :vomit: I was almost sick :vomit: Once he had eaten the head he stood up and was about to roll in it when i called him off…….. :scared:

Got lots and lots of photo’s but have lost the cable for my computer so they may have to wait a while until i can find it 🙁

Didn’t get your reply Bev and then about an hour later my phone died so couldn’t get in contact with anyone ::)

Thanks Mudgie, it took a lot of work to leave him be but it really did pay off in the end 🙂
He must have still been in his teenage years when you last saw him?…. He looks a different dog now :-*
