it is good stuff – in relative terms – the meat content is good – it is just the production and freezing that causes this and you are paying for that production – thats why commercial foods are expensive – if cost is not an issue then it is a good food – but i couldnt afford to feed 5 beasts on it every day

So much to learn,  so little time to learn it in.  Right I’m off to the meat market at lunch time.

If I buy mince meat,  how do you cook it?  ???
Boiled, steamed or raw veg?  ???
If I make up a load and put it in the fridge/freezer (which is best),  do I have to warm it up/defrost it before giving it too him?  ???

I need some doggie cookery lessons!  :-\

What meats shouldn’t you give raw?

I usually brown mince off in the pan but I don’t use oil I think it’s fatty enough with the natural fat.  The AM stuff I either boil or do it in the microwave.

I would think raw veg is better, no nutients lost then. I defrost first and ding it for 20 – 30 seconds in the microwave and I usally made it up, portion it and keep some in the fridge and some in the freezer.

raw mince is best otherwise make a porridge  – raw veggies juiced down or grated or shredded

as for what – it depends on the breed and what they may be intolerant to – is he intolerant to anything?  if you want a diet let me know

Go on then, we’ll go for a diet – let me know how/where to donate to.  As far as I’m aware, he isn’t intollerant to anything,  the little fella will eat anything from tennis balls to chillies – he doesn’t like lettuce though.

Ohhhh I’m all excited, I like cooked but my OH isn’t adventruous and won’t try anything new other than meat and chips – Joey can be my new guniea pig!

Joey has done a bit of raw in the past – my dad kept feeding him garden snails – yuk!

Oh don’t worry, my dad got told off for feeding him the slimy little critters.

Right – just got back from the meat market,  I was all really excited, like a kid in a candy shop  ;D and then I was completly stumped about what to buy!  ??? So I got, chicken breast, lamb mince and chicken wings – on the veg front I got parsnips, carrots and brocoli!!!!!  :-\  Next time, I’m making a list!  😉

The only dilema now is what to give him for tea! – ohhhhhh doggie gourmet chef!

Sorry if this is a repeat, but do I freeze and then thaw the chicken wings or can he have them straight from the fridge?

kiz – maybe you should run doggie cooking courses from your kitchen  ;D

    I’m not telling you,  you’ll tell me off……… 😛

Ok here goes, it was Jack and Joe’s (no artifical flavourings, sweetners preservatives etc),  but ran out and the local shop doesn’ stock it,  so he’s had to have Bakers, but he’s just finished the box, so don’t really want to buy another one.  Ages ago he used to tinned food,  but he was quite grumpy on that.

He gets cooked chicken once a week – so I might just give him that tonight and I’ve been trying to feed him veggies for a while now – he likes gravy with his veggies.

Thanks chick – I’ll have a look when I get in tonight.
