    Wodan because the names suits him. He like the Wodanlegende. Pedigree name Ursus. Picked by breeder.

    Diesel named after me. Pedigree name Exon. Picked by me. Picked it randomly of a chart. Had to have a name starting with an E.

    No, is no secret  :-* .

    But you not paid attention in historyclass ay?  😮  Aiaiai… Is anglosaksin history too  😛 .
    WODAN! Anglosaksin Woden, also knows in other languages at Odin, Thor, Wotan, Weda and…….. Ursus. I didn’t like the name Ursus, cause i tend to alter names according to my mood and i would short it on Sus. That means ‘sister’ in Flemish. Sister for a boy  ::) . So i named him Wodan, cause as puppy he strong, big, fair, determend and not to be messed around with. He was very calm pupper but combusted into angry demonic puppy when his brothers tried to put him down. He was 1 of the 2 favourites of his mother.(there were 9 puppies) So i think; a name of the gods  would suite him.  :yes: Long after i found out i renamed my dog into the same name  ::) . Just in different language  😉 .
    small part of the legende;
    Wodan, also known as Odin, (etc), is the highest uppergod. His name literally means ‘Woede’ (flemish for ‘rage’). Wodan is the uppergodman surounded by 2 ravens and 2 wolfs. Wednesday is (in English as well as in Flemish) named after Wodan. Wednesday (flemish woensdag) means Wodan’sday. You say his name more often that you think  >:D . Son of Bor and Bestla. Both father and mother were giants. My pupper was a big boy and his character suited the legendary Wodangod so i picked it for him.

    Diesel…….. is my nickname since school. It always takes a while for me to find my place in things, but when i do i can’t be stopped, like a diesel fratetrain  😀 . Little pupper Diesel had energy. And curiousity. And determenation. And got very pissed of if he was cornered by his pupper sister and brother. Sunshine said at a point; ‘he short tempered like you’. So in car when we were going to pick him up, all 4 of us decided to name him after me  😉 . We thought by naming my dog Diesel it would wear off of me. But it didn’t  ::) . Now we sometimes refered to as ‘Dieseldog’ and ‘Dieseldude’ hahaha  ;D .

    But for pedigree…. every year starts with a different letter. When Wodan was born it was a U. So every puppy born that year with pedigree, his name starts with a U. When Diesel was born it was an E. His pedigree name is Exon, his brother is Emir, his sister E… (can’t remember).
    It follows the alphabet. 2005 was an E, 2006 an F, 2008 a G, etc.  😉
    No not because is E litter Val. Because pedigree Saint Hubertus says so. E-ve-ry pedigree puppy born that year has same letter to start name with. On paper that is, cause you can call puppy what you like ofcourse.
    No 2 names can be the same though. For instance part of Diesel’s full name is ‘Exon, du Loriers etc ‘of so and so’ Damian’. That way on official shows or dogsports, you can instantly figure out how old the dog is, who his breeder was, what lines he comes from and who owns him now  😉 .

    I know Odin and Thor. 🙂 Never knew Wodan was aother name for him though. We didn’t get taught anything useful in history – got stuff about railways and canals and the 1832 Reform Act.  ::)

    And the story – I like it.  🙂

    That’s like how car numberplates used to be – in this country anyway – you could work out year of manufacturer by letter at beginning\end of plate. And now it is the two numbers afterv the first 2 letters – like AL05 would be a 2005 car. But I digress.  ;D

    You do? ………  ;D Thor also known as Donar (forgot that one) had a hammer. He the thundergod. When he throws the hammer around lightning apears. His voice is thundersound. Thor, thunder (‘donder’ in Flemish)…. day named after him is Thursday==> Thor’s-==> Thundersday aka Thursday(donderdag). One of my boys was named Thor  😉 .

    But… like all legends and myths explanations sometimes differ. Sometimes he IS Donar, sometimes he the son of Donar. Depends in whitch language you search  😉 .

    I knew Thursday was Thor’s Day – but I didn’t know Wednesday was Wodan’s Day.

    And I was more meaning the story of how Wodan got named fo the same god without you realising.  🙂 :-*

    Loki = Norse god of mischief – we were hoping the name would be ironic (as he would be so good  ;D )
