    Hi

I am sure we will, we start ring craft next week.

Micro chipping turned into a horror story though, the vet made her and her brother really scream and didn’t even get the chip in. we are going to have it done under a local anesthetic in a few months time so as not to frighten her. The Kennel Club are a pain with their rules!

There is not rule unless you are an AC breeder.
I have never micro chipped and I never would I would rather not be a member of the KC.
    Cute pup

    Hi

If the government have their way micro chipping of all puppies will be compulsory, after what happened with my pups I am not in favour of this. Unfortunately I in my innocence joined the A.B scheme. I now with many others am losing faith in the scheme.

I think the goverment have more to worry about than micro chipping dogs LOL

As for the AB I would not join that even if it means I leave the KC, too many puppy farmers and commercial breeders in it for my taste.

Just another way for the KC to make money it’s being patched up but the sticking plaster is not sticking.

I could tell loads of stories about microchips plus there are so many different companies, chips, and scanners it’s a minefeild.

If you want my advice I would not chip the pups lets face it they are shelties they are never far from your feet LOL

As for selling pups I don’t think it makes a difference, I have never had an AB dog come through my grooming saloon yet

    Hi Val

The problem is that when you take a dog for health checks it has to be micro chipped and for the good of the breed we have to test for CEA, PRA and hip score our shelties before we breed, no one wants a blind or lame dog.

The kennel Club has made this rule for all pedigree dogs, no chip no test.

I know it’s a pain I am not surpised so many are leaving the dog game.
I am just thankful my beardies were hip scored before all this rule changing

Believe it or not there are no health checks for pekes, we do get a vet check on slipping patella’s and heart checks, but considering we were the first breed the KC set into after Jemimma Puddleduck and her programme, they are a healthy lot

    Hi Val

In 35 years of Sheltie owning I have never had any of the problems we test for, but when people buy pups they demand that their new baby has passed all the tests.

Meanwhile the KC and BVA laugh as they take our hard earned money!

With the beardies it has only ever been hips, I have never had one that has reached totaL score of ten.

We test eyes every now and then but the KC do not request it.
As I said Pekes are a healthy lot no KC tested on them either.

Being a groomer I see all sorts of dogs most not tested for anything, I have just taken on two shelties the owner is going to bring me the papers.
One is fine the other is the size of a cart horse they are brothers the breeder sold them to an old lady and her husband who is in a wheelchair.

Now that is what p++++ed me off they only went for one came home with two breeder said they will be company for each other, what she has now is two dogs that take not a bit of notice of the owner because they have each other and huge coats she can’t cope with the owner has not idea if the parents are eye tested she does say they are KC registered so I await papers

    Hi Val.

Sounds like you will have your hands full with them, Won’t the breeder take them back? All my prospective owners are very thoroughly vetted, and all pupies are sold with a sales contract that states the pup has to be returned to me if it has to be re homed. My principal concern is the welfare of the dog.

I think that when you go for your annual eye test with your beardies you will have to have them microchipped.
