November 2, 2010 at 12:16 am #74406*Nick*MemberIt’s been 9 days now and it’s been an adventure for sure. Basically what we have is an 8 year old puppy. Not 1 issue with Sadie. She put him down a couple of times early on so they worked it out quickly and easily. We’ve been for a good walk every day and it’s quite obvious that these are the first walks he’s been on in many many years poor old boy. In our big field I took a chance and let him off lead and poor old soul didn’t know what to do, just stayed by my side. However, the last couple of days he’s started to get his bearings and is venturing out. Even chased his daughter a couple of times :ok: No problem with other males so far, although that may change once he gets his confidence back.
I could go on and on but overall it’s going well except for one thing, one big thing. He wants to kill the cats :boooo: At this point they can’t be alone together and we’re keeping him on lead if they’re in the same room. I could start a new thread on that problem.Found out he also has his CKC junior Field title along with his show championship, although many years in a crate has certainly dulled his senses. I hope to get that back in time.
thanks y’all :canadian:
November 2, 2010 at 3:42 pm #74407ValMemberUse the leave it start with a tit-bit making him leave it until you tell him he can have it, Move it on until you can say leave it if he goes anywhere near the cat.
He must have a wonderful temperament if he has been caged it’s a wonder he has not gone stir crazy or even worst turned nasty, His owner is now dead and you know what they say ‘God pays debt without money’
ValNovember 5, 2010 at 9:12 pm #74408Diesel73MemberAh, Nick the proud owner of 2 now 😀 . He IS a very pretty dog indeed.
Hope things continue to go well, and ‘life here includes cats’ get better.(and djeeeeeeez… you still got some actual sunshine overthere. I so live in the wrong country ::) .)
