Needed or not needed ?

have just been having this conversation elsewhere – step in the right direction but somewhat long.  ;D condensed version to be legally given out with every sale/transfer of a dog\cat, young or adult, would mean everyone should be getting information needed not just people that get pets from reputable sources. at least that was my theory. it needs taking and progressing with.  ;D

IMO if a person needs telling their pet needs ‘somewhere suitable to toilet’ they shouldn’t be allowed a pet in the first place  :nono:

Oh come on – this all basic stuff pet owners should know if they did a bit more research instead of just impulse buying – AND yet again those who actually give a damn already do this for their pets – those who dont, wont care either way.

really…. some people just have no idea and make mistakes through ignorance not through not caring or impulse buying. the best way to improve things is through education and information.

I dont know, people will go to places such as the internet, the vets, books, trainers, etc

dont get me started i have enough people asking the s illy little things that are basic knowledge and think you really shouldn’t be aloud a pet…

Of course they do – if they dont have internet access then they know what a library is. It ISNT that hard.

People have to start somewhere. They won’t necessarily know where to find the information in the first place. It’s only easy when you know how. They may have had dogs in the family for years and have no idea what they’re doing is unacceptabel. If you are saying you don’t think things can be improved by education you are saying you don’t think things can be improved – so we might as well all just give up now. What about the people who have no idea how a dog should look groomed because they’re so used to seeing them clipped. Should they have gone to the library? Or would information provided by a responsible breeder have covered that? Breeders have a responsibility who they sell their puppies to and to make sure information is provided regarding care etc. So many people still seem to live in the dark ages wrt dog training – or watch Cesar Millan. They believe what they see on TV. If this was turned into something that had to be given out when pets were transferred and was a length that was readable, it would be making the BYBs etc get their fingers out and do something. The government doing something is a start – maybe now it will consider doing something useful like tackling puppy farms intead of creating mroe dog control orders?  ::) Is it just me that sees the government doing something that is at least positive as a good sign – me the only optimist, that would definitely be a first….

People re always moaning things aren’t good enough – but then they moan when things get done as well.  :whatever:

Oh please, will the leaflets be any better than what they watch on the tv – unlikely.

Maybe if they tackled puppy farmers so people couldnt get cheap puppies that would be a start.

And damn right im going to moan if what they do isnt good enough.

And re grooming – is very few breeders who cover grooming appropriatley, most people find out more reading a breed book or checking the internet, or asking someone who is qualified to answer – so no, a leaflet wont help there. Of course it wont it cannot possible cover anything but the very basics, and basics isnt good enough when you own a breed like a poodle – and too many breeders dont even explain how to brush – if they did I wouldnt have to.

so you don’t see the point educating people.  ::) yes the leaflet would be better than what they watch on tv…. and legislation has to start somewhere… one can only hope that it starts here and moves on to areas where it can make a big difference.

why don’t you do something instead of moaning if you think what’s being done isn’t working…. or do you just prefer moaning and disagreeing with me? least i am broad minded enough to think about the possible benefits and the areas it can expand to….
