Whether its a pointy dog or not ;D
This is Loki pointing at a cat:

He doesn’t do it that often – but he occasionally points out dead things on walks (bunnies, stoats etc.)
November 7, 2008 at 2:11 pm #70748*Nick*MemberNice one Loki!! Widget, what are Lokis breeding lines? I’ve met 100’s of labs (obviously) but only a couple like Loki . Met one the other day actually, could have been Lokis brother, same head build etc. He was a bit of a bully though so sadie didn’t like him.
I’ll see what I’ve got of pointy Sadie
November 7, 2008 at 2:20 pm #70749AnonymousGuestHis pedigree is here:
http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q139/sloulou/pedigree.jpg
if you can read it? Doesn’t come out very well ::)
Bev or Foxy know more about what bits of his lines make him the shape, wavy coat/ temprament that he is – I seem to remember the Endacott bit is a wavy line? But in his litter only 4 of the 11 had wavy coats… and all of those 4 were boy dogs. I hardly ever see labs that look like him – especially where I live. But I see more working type labs in Suffolk. 🙂

November 7, 2008 at 6:20 pm #70757GSPmadMemberi have a pointer…. but have i got a pic of him pointing? :-[ methinks not…. ::) i stalked him with the camera but no squirrels were prepared to rustle in trees at the right moment. :-\ they’re always there at the wrong moment. >:D actually next door neighbour keeps feeding them so maybe he will point at ones on fence instead of chasing them down garden. ;D
November 7, 2008 at 7:52 pm #70758*Nick*MemberOk, here’s what I’ve got of Sadie. She points a lot but I’m usually too involved in the process to snap a picture so I don’t have many and no real intense ones. The BPS is classed as a pointing spaniel as opposed to a flushing spaniel (springers, cockers) and is run in pointing tests over here and not spaniel tests. You’re never going to get a point as intense and stylish as an EP or a GSP with a BPS, but she gets the job done. Her points usually go in stages. Her initial point is a ‘stop dead’ because she just got a good whiff of something…just like this:
Then she’ll very very slowly hone in on the smell, and possibly get a visual and adjust her position to a more intense and “leave-no-doubt-as-to-where-the-bird-is” proper point. This is the only pic I have of that as I’m usually moving in at this part to whoa her. It’s a crap pic but you can see quite clearly what she’s pointing at 😀 :
and then of course there’s the requisite ‘fish-point’ pic
November 7, 2008 at 8:28 pm #70759kizkiznobiteMembergreat fish point…i like that..that good ;D
November 7, 2008 at 8:58 pm #70760SuzAndTheDivaMemberAll pics are good, however i have plenty of pics of Honey doing all sorts – but pointing and eyeballing aint one of them 😀 I have got a FAB pic of her doing – bev what did you call it with that poodle where shes looking away to calm the situation down? But cant post cos of customer etc 🙂
November 8, 2008 at 4:47 pm #70761GSPmadMemberall i have got really is sitting down points (strange, i know). ones where ‘you said sit so i am but expecting my full attention when there’s a good air scent is a bit much’. 😀
