MemberPreston is a handsome 10 month old Weimaraner and is currently on foster in Nottingham.
The Preston fact file
Dog friendly: Yes, can be boisterous
Cat friendly: Yes
Child friendly: Yes, aged 10+
House trained: Yes
Home alone: Needs to be crated. Will cry or bark at first before settling
Basic training: Knows some commands, has excellent recall. Will require further training and lots of stimulation.Preston is a stunning dog with a charming and loving personality.
He is in foster with other dogs and enjoys their company. He can play boisterously and does not seem aware of his size so care would need to be taken around smaller or frail dogs. He would love canine company in his new home b ut could also be rehomed as an only dog.
Preston is in foster with three cats and is well mannered with them.
Preston should be considered a work in progress. He has a couple of issues that his foster family have worked hard on already and this would need to continue with his adoptive family.
He is looking for an active home where he will get plenty of physical and mental stimulation. He will need continued input into his training, particularly through the rest of his adolescence. When he is older he would love a job such as agility, flyball or tracking.
We would ideally like a new owner experienced with the breed or similar large breed dogs.
Preston does not like being left and has been crate trained by his foster family. He does still protest a little when they leave him by crying or barking but does settle quickly and relaxes. He will need to continue to be crated by his new home as he will chew when left alone.
Despite his size he is still puppy mouthing. His new family would need to give consistent, firm feedback on this to continue his bite inhibition training. For this reason we will not rehome him where there are children under 10 years old.
Preston is a charming dog who is full of fun and loves to play the clown.
He has some basic training and is very food motivated which will aid further training. He has excellent recall off lead meaning he can stretch his legs and run free on walks which he adores.
He is fully house trained and is not possessive over food or toys towards people or other dogs.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from http://www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk

MemberHope Rescue is primarily a co-ordinating rescue and most of their work involves placing and transporting dogs from put to sleep or emergency situations to rescue spaces with reputable rescues including smaller rescues and breed rescues. So in answer to your question Hope Rescue does use breed rescues where appropriate and is very grateful for their help and expertise.
If there is a problem listing the dogs available for rehoming from Hope Rescue here please let me know and I will stop listing them here as I didn’t want to cause offense. My role is purely one of crossposting the dogs available and not on the politics of individual rescue policies and as such. This thread was purely placed to find a puppy a new home 🙂
